The picturesque harbour side town of Whitby is steeped in historic charm. Cobbled streets, quaint fishermen’s cottages and narrow alleyways are overlooked by the gaunt ruins of the ancient cliff top abbey. The town is built along the steep sides of the mouth of the River Esk and is rich with history. Holmleigh Guest House is situated just off the town centre, within a few minutes walking distance of the main tourist facilities and visitor attractions which include a wide variety of eating establishments. The old fashioned streets are full of character with an ever increasing array of specialist shops, boutiques and galleries providing many opportunities to shop and browse, along with the many excellent cafes, pubs coffee houses and tearooms. Not forgetting to sample Whitby’s world famous fish and chips and oak smoked kippers, you will almost certainly be spoiled for choice. Public transport links within the area are excellent; the bus and rail stations are approximately five minutes walk away in the town centre. Holmleigh is located on the main bus routes with stops outside the house. |
